The Beach House Photo shoot with Katie Sargent Design

So as mentioned in my last post on Hugh Gallery (here) I got to assist on a fabulous beach house photo shoot in Mornington Peninsula at the end of last year, for Melbourne based Interior Designer and Property Stylist Katie Sargent Design. It was such a lovely ‘family-escape’ home and great space to work with – with beautiful views of the ocean and gorgeous skies at sunset. Unlike the common blue and white nautical styling that is often associated with beach house styling, Katie managed to incorporate some beautiful and eclectic pieces into the styling of this property, infusing it with personality. I am sure her future clients will absolutely love this about her approach to property styling.

Shot by interiors and lifestyle photographer Lisa Atkinson, this beach house looks absolutely amazing and the images are stunning!

Bringing the outdoors in with a gorgeous 6 foot gum branch of greenery is such a great feature for this entry way! Simply and so elegantly styled with a tall canvas artwork from Hugh Evans’ Hugh Gallery, and a trio of black tables perfectly contrasting the white walls. Statement – but not OTT (‘Over The Top’).

In the Living Space:

Lovely console styling featuring a centered cow-tooth mirror, sandstone pedestal table lamps and some vases from Katie’s home. The agave aloe adds the freshest pop of colour to an already beautiful space.

Love that you can make use of an older style ladder like the one here and store your throws on it for easy access in cooler weather. Next to this is the window seat where you can look out of bright white shutters to the great outdoors. The perfect place to get stuck into your favorite book!

The main dining area is a perfect mix and match of different furniture styles with the cane chairs, modern timber dining table and contemporary carved bench. A stunning piece of abstract artwork by Kerry Armstrong lifts up the space perfectly, and the green accent of banana leaf help to make the space feel a little tropical and relaxed!

Feature Bedroom:

Cool and calm bedroom vibes with this lovely oatmeal and teal coloured bed linen from Sheridan. Simple and beautifully styled with this dark wood side table and and accessories as well as another large canvas from Hugh Gallery. Very welcoming after a long hard day at the beach!

A close-up of the Sheridan bed linen and a lovely textured throw from Katie’s  home.

The Kitchen Dining Area:

A salvaged leafy chandelier over this light stained wood dining table works so well together. The earthy brown tones are a beautiful warm contrast against the white walls and tiles in this room. Gorgeous pink proteas highlight another captivating canvas artwork by Hugh Evans.

White shiplap cladding is just a winner! So fresh and so clean! Love this area where you can come out to have your morning coffee or night-time cuppa and watch the sunset!

The Back Deck:

Yet another dining area – this one canopied by leafy vines creating a shady spot for all those family moments you get to create around your favourite meals!

The Poolside:

The perfect spot to lounge in the sun, go for a dip in the crystal clear water and repeat!

Another cozy nook outdoors where you can escape to catch up on your reading. Also overlooking the pool, this lovely space that Katie created feels like a little sanctuary flanked by seasonal blooms that are sure to further brighten up your day!

and a little action shot of me shifting this artwork from Hugh Gallery to make sure it was perfectly straight before the photography began!

This really was such a great shoot and so glad to have been a part of it. It’s not your typical beach house decor – which is so refreshing and works beautifully for the house! Check out more from Katie here.

Til next time…

Ciao!
